Be Happy Challenge #1 Continued

Because we just barely introduced these Be Happy Challenges into our Relief Soceity, we've decided to continue to participate in the first challenge for another week.

So sisters, continue to read the Book of Mormon for at least 15 minutes each day, and remember to be happy!

  1. I have to admit that this challenge has been a hard one for me. My life has gotten so busy and has been so hectic lately that even setting aside 15 minutes for scripture study has been a challenge. So I'll admit that I have not done my scripture reading every day, but what I have read, and the time that I have spent in the scriptures has been relaxing and rewarding.

As I have thought about what I might share with my fellow sisters on this blog, I have had many verses of scripture touch my heart and mind. Too many to post here, but I do have one that I feel impressed to share.

In Mosiah 3:18, King Benjamin is addressing his people and he is talking about Christ in this verse. He says something that really struck me. He ends the verse with "believe that salvation was, and is, and is to come, in and through the atoning blood of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent."

These words impressed me because I realized that no matter where we are on the road of life, we always have the opportunity to receive salvation. Salvation was, is, and is to come! These words provide comfort to me because I know that as I struggle and fall into sin, my salvation was, and every Sunday as I partake of the sacrament, my salvation is, and as I fall into sin again, because I am imperfect, my salvation is to come. I always, no matter the wrong I do and the sins I commit, have the opportunity to receive salvation through the atonement of my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

  2. This challenge has been a huge blessing in my life. A few days ago I realized that, due to some of the choices I've made and the way I've been acting, I'm really not very happy with my life.
One day it just hit me! I realized that I wasn't happy and I needed to change something. Reading through the Book of Mormon and seeking guidance from Priesthood leaders helped me realize that the best way to be happy is to forget yourself.
It's such a simple concept but I realized it through counsel and the examples of the faithful saints in the Book of Mormon.
The best way to be happy is to stop thinking of yourself the second you walk out your door and live your day with a perspective to help others. The most selfless person is the happiest person.
